"Over the last 3 years your department’s call volume has experienced a nearly 50%
increase in vehicle accidents. Every day more than 15 thousand vehicles travel though
our district on the Highway 271 corridor, we cover 11 miles of state Hwy 271. Vehicle
accidents require special training for our firefighters such as vehicle extrication. Other
specialized training included high-angle rescue, tower rescue, and water rescue in
cooperation with the Chicota VFD. Future training plans include confined space, trench,
and collapse structure rescue.
